Waste & recycling

When your bin goes out, and how Central Darling Shire handles household waste across a shire of more than 53,000 km². Kerbside collection is a single weekly 240-litre general-waste bin, and the day depends on where you live: Wilcannia on Wednesday, Menindee town on Monday and Menindee environs on Tuesday, Ivanhoe town on Monday and Ivanhoe environs on Thursday. Bins must be out by 7.00am with the handle facing away from the road. The council's published bin-collection page and its 2026-27 Fees and Charges list no kerbside recycling bin and no green organics bin. White Cliffs and Sunset Strip are served by their own waste management facilities rather than a kerbside run, and the council's waste depots are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Find your bin day
Council's Domestic Waste Collection page (collection day listed by town) / 08 8083 8900There is no address lookup tool — the collection day is set by town. See the link below.

Kerbside collection days are set by town rather than by street address. If your bin has not been serviced on the day, the council advises that it was most likely not out by 7.00am — take it in and put it out the following week, or take the rubbish to a council landfill, which are open 24 hours a day. Charges, depot fees and service arrangements change each financial year; confirm against the official sources below.
