Report a problem to the council
Central Darling covers a very large area with long unsealed road links between Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe, White Cliffs, Sunset Strip and Tilpa, so the fastest route for most problems is the council's customer request line or its online request form. Below is where to lodge each type of issue, plus an independent app that works for any council, and the things in this area that are not the council's job.
How to report it
- Report to the council (official)
- Customer request form on the council's Have Your Say page, or 08 8083 8900The council's Have Your Say & Access to Information page invites customer requests by phone or through an online form.Lodge a request →
- Roads, water and works
- Engineering line — 08 8083 8800The council publishes a separate engineering phone number alongside its administration line. Current road conditions across the shire are published on the council's road conditions page.
- Missed bin
- 08 8083 8900Council advises that a bin missed on collection day was most likely not out by 7.00am — put it out the following week, or take the rubbish to a council landfill (open 24 hours).
- One app for any council
- Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council or authority. Not run by the council.
- Not always the council's job
- Faulty street lights → Essential EnergyEssential Energy is the electricity distributor for far-western NSW and maintains the street-light network; the council's own Community Strategic Plan lists Essential Energy as the responsible agency for electricity infrastructure in the shire.
- Emergencies
- 000 · SES 132 500 · Royal Flying Doctor Service (08) 8088 1188The council's website does not publish a dedicated after-hours council emergency number. Council notes that mobile coverage across the shire is limited and Telstra is the sole provider.
For urgent safety hazards, call rather than filling in a form. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
