Report a problem to the council
The quickest way to get something fixed — a pothole, dumped rubbish, a missed bin — is to lodge it through the council's official channel, where you receive a reference number to track progress. Below is where to report each type of issue, plus an independent app that works for any council.
- Report to the council (official)
- Use the online Customer Service Centre ('Report an issue'), or call (02) 4306 7900Lodging online registers the request in the council's system and gives you a reference number to track.
- Bin problems
- Report a missed service via 1Coast, or call 1300 1COAST (1300 126 278)Missed bins, repairs and replacements are handled by Cleanaway on the council's behalf.
- Illegal dumping
- Report to the council / NSW EPA (RIDonline)
- Urgent or after-hours hazard
- Call (02) 4306 7900An after-hours service for council-related emergencies (e.g. broken water mains, severe road damage) runs on the same number.
- One app for any council
- Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council. Not run by the council.
- Not always the council's job
- Faulty street lights → AusgridThe council maintains some assets; the energy provider fixes the light itself.
For urgent safety hazards, call rather than filling in a form. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
