Buloke has 6 councillors: 3 wards (Lower Avoca, Mallee and Mount Jeffcott), each electing two. The current council was elected in October 2024 for the 2024–2028 term. Voters don't elect the Mayor directly: the councillors choose one of themselves, and in Buloke the term is one year.

Victorian council ballot papers and results don't show party affiliation, so we don't label councillors. We list who holds office, with the council email address it publishes for each, and link to the election results. The council's ward map and the VEC show which ward your address is in. Each ward elects two councillors by proportional representation, so a vacancy is normally filled by a VEC countback of the 2024 votes. Mallee Ward was uncontested in 2024, so it has no unelected candidates to count back; the VEC holds a by-election when no eligible candidate remains.
