When your bins go out, and how Blayney Shire handles recycling and waste across Blayney, Millthorpe, Carcoar, Lyndhurst, Neville, Newbridge, Barry, Hobbys Yards, Forest Reefs, Panuara and specific rural areas. Council runs a two-bin kerbside service: a red-lidded general-waste bin collected every week, and a yellow-lidded recycling bin collected on alternate fortnights on the same day. There is no green food-and-garden-organics bin yet — Council has an NSW EPA grant to roll one out, and its published timeline has FOGO starting with the new kerbside contract in April 2028. In the meantime, household green waste and prunings can be dropped at the Blayney Waste Facility on the Mid Western Highway free of charge, and eight villages have a Village Recycling Station for rural residents. Bin collection at a glance

General waste (red lid): WeeklyCollected every week. An additional red bin can be ordered for $432 a year (2026/27 schedule of fees and charges).
Recycling (yellow lid): FortnightlyCollected on alternate fortnights, on the same day as the red bin — check which week your address is on using the collection calendar. An additional yellow bin costs $176 a year (2026/27).
Food & garden organics (green lid): Not offered yet — FOGO planned to start April 2028Council received an NSW Environment Protection Authority grant to support a FOGO rollout, and its published Waste Services Review timeline has a new kerbside waste, recycling and FOGO collection service commencing in April 2028 with the next collection contract. Until then, residential green waste and tree prunings can be delivered to the Blayney Waste Facility at no cost.
Bulky / hard waste: One free kerbside clean-up a year for households on the domestic waste serviceThe 2026 Bulky Waste Clean-up ran 25 May to 5 June 2026, with material to be placed out by Sunday 24 May. Dates change each year — Council publishes them on the Bulky Waste Collection page and in its monthly Council Connect e-newsletter.
Problem waste & drop-off: Blayney Waste Facility, 4165 Mid Western Highway, BlayneyOpen seven days (Mon–Fri 9am–5pm; Sat–Sun 9am–12pm and 2pm–5pm), closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Free to drop off: green waste, electronic waste, steel, clean fill, motor vehicles, glass, aluminium cans, plastic bottles, cardboard and paper. Household chemicals, paint, gas bottles, batteries and motor oils are taken at the annual Household Chemical CleanOut (an EPA-run event; the 2026 date was still to be confirmed as at May 2026). Charges apply at the gate for general waste, timber, bricks and concrete, tyres, lounges and mattresses, and asbestos. A Buy Back Shop operates 10am–12pm and 2pm–4pm daily.

Kerbside collection is available in Blayney, Millthorpe, Carcoar, Lyndhurst, Neville, Panuara, Newbridge, Hobbys Yards, Barry, Forest Reefs and specific rural areas (2026/27 Revenue Policy). Blayney's kerbside collection contract is due for renewal in 2028 and Council has been running a Waste Services Review since 2025 — the collection model for the red bin (weekly or fortnightly) is one of the options being tendered, so frequencies may change from 2028.
