Bland Shire is an undivided (at-large) council: its nine councillors are elected across the whole local government area by proportional representation, rather than by ward, and all nine sit for the whole shire — West Wyalong and Wyalong through to Ungarie, Weethalle, Barmedman, Tallimba, Mirrool and Naradhan. The councillors elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among themselves (Bland does not have a popularly elected mayor — the NSW Electoral Commission ran no mayoral contest here in 2024). Cr Brian MonaghanListed as Mayor on Council's Your Councillors page and quoted as Mayor in Council media releases through to July 2026. The Mayor is elected by the councillors; under the Local Government Act the mayoral term in a council that does not popularly elect its mayor is two years.

Want to raise something? Contacting your ward councillor or the mayor is one of the most direct ways to be heard between elections.

We list who's in office and link to their official profiles and the election results; we don't characterise anyone's politics. Party labels are those each councillor was elected under at the September 2024 election (NSW Electoral Commission) — all 14 candidates stood ungrouped, and the NSWEC declaration shows an Independent (IND) label for five of the nine elected (Holly Brooks, Elizabeth McGlynn, Emma Henderson, Rodney Crowe and Malcolm Carnegie). The declaration shows no party label for Brian Monaghan, Lisa Minogue, Tony Lord or Jill Funnell, so their affiliation is left blank here rather than guessed. Casual vacancies can change the makeup, and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are re-elected by the councillors periodically, so the council's official page has the most current list.
