Report a problem to the council
The quickest way to get something fixed in Berrigan, Finley, Tocumwal or Barooga — a pothole, dumped rubbish, a missed bin, a stray animal — is to lodge it through the council's official channel. Below is where to report each type of issue, plus an independent app that works for any council.
How to report it
- Report to the council (official)
- "Lodge a request/issue" online form, or (03) 5888 5100Council states the phone number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a Ranger and Council Officer on duty for urgent issues. Note the (03) area code — the Shire sits on the Victorian border and uses Victorian-range landline numbers.
- Missed, damaged or stolen bin
- Bin service request form, or (03) 5888 5100Council asks that you report it if your bin has not been collected by 4.30pm on your scheduled collection day. Bins belong to the property, not the resident, so they stay behind when you move.
- Building or planning non-compliance
- Separate online request formCouncil runs a dedicated form for building and planning non-compliance matters, and another for requesting an inspection or meeting.
- One app for any council
- Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council. Not run by the council.
- Not always the council's job
- Faulty street lights → Essential Energy (13 20 80)Essential Energy is the electricity distributor across the Riverina and Murray region and maintains the street-light network for the councils in its area.
For urgent safety hazards, call rather than filling in a form. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
