The authoritative source for crime in NSW is the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR), which publishes recorded incidents reported to or detected by NSW Police. For most local government areas BOCSAR also publishes a rate per 100,000 people, so the LGA can be placed beside the NSW rate. It does not do that for Balranald. In BOCSAR's Balranald tables every one of the 12 major offences carries 'nc' — not calculable — in the rate column, because the counts here are too small for a rate per 100,000 to be reliable. That is BOCSAR's own decision, and we do not substitute a number for it. What BOCSAR does publish for Balranald are the incident counts below, for the 12 months from April 2025 to March 2026.
