Report a problem to the council
Balranald Shire covers 21,690 km² with two staffed towns, so getting the right number matters — a burst main in Euston after hours goes to a different phone than a pothole on the Sturt Highway approach in Balranald. Below is where to report each type of issue, the after-hours numbers the council publishes, and an independent app that works for any council.
How to report it
- Report to the council (official)
- "Make an Enquiry" online form, or 03 5020 1300The online form takes your name, contact details and a description, and council staff follow it up. The office is staffed Monday to Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm. Email council@balranald.nsw.gov.au.
- After hours — water and sewer
- 0418 322 902Council publishes this number for out-of-hours water and sewer emergencies. The council is the water and sewer utility for the shire.
- After hours — roads and town services
- Balranald 0417 151 798 · Euston 0419 693 956Council's published after-hours contacts for roads and town issues, split by town.
- One app for any council
- Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council or authority. Not run by the council.
- Not always the council's job
- Faulty street lights → Essential Energy · illegal dumping → NSW EPAEssential Energy is the electricity distributor across regional NSW including Balranald Shire, and maintains the street-light network. The council's waste page directs littering and illegal-dumping reports to the NSW EPA's online reporting tool. For police, fire or ambulance call 000.
For urgent safety hazards, call rather than filling in a form — the online enquiry form is not monitored around the clock. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
